19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden title after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
